Diamanda Galás, The refugee (MITO Settembre Musica, 11 settembre 2011)

Dal vasto repertorio di brani originali o rivisitazioni, Diamanda sceglie i pezzi per questo lavoro dedicato ai profughi.

Impeccabile, intensa, gigantesca come sempre, con i mille suoni della sua voce travolgente.

Nella scaletta spicca Amsterdam di Brel, Haven have mercy da brividi, e i canti della grecia dedicati ai rifugiati.

Elegante (abito di Riccardo Tisci), disponibile, suona e maltratta il pianoforte per meglio definire, sottolineare la sua musica, la sua politica.
P.S.: Il concetto dell'acqua
Durante le sue esibizioni Diamanda beve molta acqua per avere una idratazione continua per la sua incredibile voce.
Durante il concerto, dopo il secondo brano, Diamanda chiede dal microfono altra acqua (avevano messo a disposizione due bottigliette da mezzo litro) ... nessuno le porta acqua ... altre due canzoni e segnala a qualche organizzatore fuori dal palco che vuole dell'acqua .. niente da fare ... dal pubblico si alza una voce: ACQUA! lei sorride, ringrazia.
Canta ancora, poi decide di uscire ...  torna sul palco, spiega al pubblico che non c'è acqua ... chiede al pubblico chi ha dell'acqua, dalla platea qualcuno le porge due bottiglie ...
Lei sorride, ringrazia ...
Ma è mai possibile che un Auditorium in centro a Milano, con annesso bar ... un festival come MITO ...
non riesca in pochi minuti a procurare due bottiglie d'acqua?
Ti prego Diamanda perdonali!

From the vast repertoire of original compositions and reviews, Diamanda has choosen the pieces for this work dedicated to refugees.

Intense, giant as always, her voice overwhelms with hundreds of different sounds.

In order we find  Amsterdam of Brel, Haven have mercy (it gives you the shivers) and the songs of Greek songs devoted to the refugees.

She’s elegant (she wears a Riccardo Tisci dress), she’s kindly, she plays the piano to underline and define her music and her policy.

P.S.: the water concept

During her performances Diamanda drinks a lot of water to keep her amazing voice hydrated.

During this concert, just after the second song, Diamanda asks for some more  water  (they had made her available two half-liter bottles) but nobody brings her any water ... other two songs and she asks if someone of the organization can bring her some water ... nothing to do from the audience someone cries for water

She smiles and thanks.

She goes on singing but then she decides to go out ... back on the stage she explains the problem to the audience, she asks if someone has got some water and a person hands her two bottles. She smiles and thanks ...

How is possible for an Auditorium  in the centre of Milan, with an adjoining bar ... a festival as MITO ... which fail to provide two bottle of water in a few minutes?
